A new year

Wow, I can't believe it has been so long since I've written here. I don't think anyone even reads this anymore, so I will probably just use it for my own thoughts and recollections of my life. Though comments are still welcome! :)

We moved into our new house in October and I love it here in the country. It's so peaceful. Some things had to be re-done on the house and garage due to it not being done properly but it is in the process. In a few months I should have a fully useable house (ie. basement being finished).

This move has definitely been an experience! We moved in Oct 1, with no electricity or running water. We do have a wood burning fireplace in the living room, so we camped out there for the first couple of months. We managed to run a few things that required electricy off of our generator (ie. lamps for light and pump and pressure tank once it had been hooked up). But we had to do laundry and shower other places. Thankfully our store used to be an apartment and there is a washer and dryer in the basement, so I could do laundry at work. But I could only do about 1/2 a load at a time because that washer was old and also that much smaller than my new one that was unuseable at the time. We also have some amazing friends who let us use there bathrooms for showering.  It definitely was an exciting day when my washer, dryer and dishwasher got hooked up! I had never been so excited to do those chores!! And the washing machine is great, its SO quiet!

We've mostly been busy with unpacking, and stacking boxes that will go to the basement. M did do some hunting and got a nice buck right on our piece of land. We also got some moose meat from a hunt he went on with a friend. We also found a new kitty. She had been wandering outside and on one cold night we found her in our dog house. Right now she stays in our basement with our other outside cat, until our garage is done and they can be outdoor animals again. I've been enjoying baking and cooking like I never have before. I'm loving trying new recipes. I found some really yummy ones that I will post under the Recipes tab.

And now I need to go and chop some veggies for the stir fry we're having for dinner tomorrow at church and make a cheesecake.
Here's our newest kitty. Isn't she pretty? And very affectionate too

Mother's Day

I just got home from having a perfectly marvelous day spending it with our wonderful church family at Beulah Land Baptist Church! I love our church and the people there so much. It is truly such a blessing to be a part of this church family. We had a pizza potluck which the men prepared and then the woman got to pick their favorite icecream treat for dessert which the men also prepared for us. A baseball game was planned for the afternoon. And I also enjoyed a nice walk with some of the ladies and just some wonderful fellowship all around.

Since it is mothers day I am dedicating this post to my wonderful mom who I love very much! She has been a wonderful Mom. I feel very blessed to have such a great Mom. She is someone who loves the Lord very much, has always been there for me through my growing up years and is now also my friend.

Love you Mom!

I think I have a problem

I realized yesterday that I have a problem. I can't make small cookies! I was making Peanut Butter Chocolate chip cookies yesterday (turned out really good too) and as much as I try my cookies end up being really big, not small and little and perfectly shaped. Oh well they taste good :)

Bible Reading

If you're having a tough time making time to read the bible each day or find it hard to know where to read. I found this printable Bible Reading Plan that could be helpful. Here's the link for it http://www.bible-reading.com/bible-plan.pdf

Moose Hunt

I just got word from Marlin that he got a moose on his hunt this weekend! He had gotten drawn and went hunting with a friend of his. He actually didn't care either way if he got a moose or not, he was more hoping for opportunities to witness to his friend.

In the Presence of My Enemies

Lately I've been reading a book called "In the Presence of My Enemies". I don't know if any of you have read it before, but wow what a horrific experience to go through!

Can you just imagine being taken from your resort at gun point where you are celebrating your anniversary and being hostages in the Philippine Jungle for over a year with a lot of the time hardly anything to eat?! I'm almost through the book now but I already know how it ends since it said right at the beginning of the book that Martin (the husband) dies in the jungle. I just hope and pray that if something like that happens to me (not that I plan to be in the philippines any time) that God would give me the same faith and strength to endure.

No real reason why, but life is just good!

Life is good! Nothing extra ordanary happening, but life just feels good. Here is where we try and spend some time each evening, trying to get back in shape and lose some of the weight we've put on in the last couple years.

We're also going to try and get our basement finished this summer/Fall. It will definitely be nice to have flooring, walls and electricity in the basement! There's plans for a guest bedroom down there as well as I'll be able to expand my scrapbook area from my small desk upstairs!

We had a BBQ at my parents a couple weeks ago with my brother, his wife and my niece. It was great seeing them. And soon we'll have our first nephew as well as they are having a baby in September!

Our pets usually keep us busy and entertained, although I wasn't so happy when we came home today and found one of my sandles in the hallway looking like this. Our dog named "Puppy" was the culprit. And yes I know we're so creative in what we named her! :) But it suits her and she knows her name.
Here's a couple pictures of "Puppy" when she's not being destructive!

And "Ryker" being a big suck. He LOVES having his neck scratched.
And "Fluff" loves to climb! He climbed up that ladder to sit at the top of this 6 foot wall!
And there's Mini Fluff (a mini version of Fluff) and Twiggy, but I don't have pictures of them on this computer.

Anyways not much else going on. The business keeps us busy, but we are able to enjoy life more now that we hired a couple people. So we actually get to be home by 6pm most days.

Not sure who all reads this, but hope everyone is doing well!
